We are seeking to recruit a self-motivated, qualified nursery chef/cook to join our friendly, passionate and professional team to provide a freshly cooked lunch, prepare our afternoon teas and help out with the laundry.
Principle Responsibilities:
- To prepare meals for children attending the nursery school & day care centre.
- To manage & maintain the kitchen to the highest standards possible as outlined in the policies, procedure and financial targets of the nursery school & day care.
- To be responsible for stock & food orders.
- To ensure that children are offered healthy food choices.
- To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and food hygiene.
- Take responsibility to make sure all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly
- communicated to teams.
- To be responsible and lead on any inspections relating to the kitchen area E.g. Environmental Health.
Directly responsible to: Day Care Manager/Headteacher
You need to:
- Have at least 2 year’s experience
- Have a child friendly approach
- Ensure that all foods are ready at the specified time and correctly served.
- Experience in catering for children with a wide variety of different dietary needs
- Experience in meal preparation , cooking and presentation
- Experience in planning menus, ordering food and stock control
- You will be expected to cooperate with the Food Standards Agency should they be conducting an inspection and to ensure that all documentation including cleaning schedules are completed on time and retain a rating of 5
You must have:
- A good sense of humour
- Knowledge of health and safety
- Understanding of COSHH regulation
- A current Food Hygiene certificate
The candidate will be required to have a flexible approach to working as on some occasions will have to work Saturdays when the school and day care have fund raising events.
The successful candidates will join a dedicated and highly motivated management team and will be expected to maintain and develop our high standards of care and learning.
