Here at Elekta, you will make a difference.

We have a unique opportunity for the right- minded person to join our growing Advanced Development Engineering team and play an important role in the exploration of new concepts for our innovative radiotherapy solutions, based on linear accelerators.

Building on Elekta's mission to create more than just technology, we are architects of hope. At Elekta, you have the power to make a significant impact. Our Advanced Development Engineering team is seeking a multi-disciplinary experienced scientist, with a background in physics or engineering and with applied software skills, who shares the same passion for bringing hope to people living with cancer and for giving everyone access to the best cancer care.

As a Principal Advanced Development Engineer, you will focus on exploring and de-risking new technologies to support our future linear accelerator developments.

This is an exciting opportunity to be able to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Enabling a smooth transition of technology from the Advanced Development Engineering prototype phase to the engineering development and implementation phase within a program, including technical guidance to the engineering teams

  • Leveraging skills of the wider engineering organisation and third parties to achieve the goal

  • Planning the work for timely deliveries and keep progress, status and risks transparent to project team and stakeholders

  • Actively keeping oneself updated on areas concerning engineering and the radiotherapy domain, such as engineering practices, standards, tools, methodology, etc.

  • Design of experiments for exploration

  • Technical exploration planning, management and execution

  • Authoring of technical reports

What you bring

  • A BSc and/or PhD and/or master’s degree in physics, mathematics, electronic engineering, computer science or similar

  • Extensive experience of developing software and experimental prototypes for physics and/or engineering applications, including aspects of control systems

  • Languages: C/C++, plus at least one of the following: Matlab, Simulink, Python

  • A good understanding of systems engineering principles and practices

  • Experience of medical device development is an advantage

  • Ability to effectively communicate and liaise with other functions, such as hardware engineering (mechanical and electronics), software, physics, product management, as well as with external partners, such as research institutions and other 3rd party technology partners

  • Ability to guide the technical work of internal and external engineering physics teams

  • The desire and flexibility to acquire different skills to complete the task

  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken

  • A team player with good communication skills, but with the ability to complete work independently and coordinate work involving different parties

  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities

What you’ll get

In this role, you will work for a higher purpose; hope for everyone dealing with cancer, and for everyone regardless of where in the world, to have access to the best cancer care. In addition to this, Elekta offers a range of benefits.
