Astute’s Nuclear team is partnering with an independent Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy working primarily in the nuclear sector to recruit a Principal Civil and Structural Engineer for its Whitehaven, Cumbria site.
The Principal Civil and Structural Engineer role comes with a salary up to �80,000, enhanced pension and flexible working.

Responsibilities and duties
As the Principal Civil and Structural Engineer you will:
* Take the technical lead on detailed and construction design projects.
* Review and approve works for clients such as calculations, specifications and basis of design.
* Mentor and support other members of the team, developing their knowledge and skill.
* Have experience using software such as STAAD or TEDDS for analysis and design purposes.
* Complete Structural assessments of existing structures including concrete and steel.
* Any other duties as required.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
* A degree level qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Chartership or working towards would be advantageous.
* At least 10 years in engineering design within a highly regulated environment

The Principal Civil and Structural Engineer role would suit someone who is:
* Able to lead others, resolve issues and effectively deliver project requirements.
