A Vacancy at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.
The Intensive Support Team for LSCFT is an innovative, dynamic and responsive service that provides a critical service to people with learning disabilities who are at risk of a breakdown in community care, and an inappropriate admission to hospital. The team offer a step-up service to the community Learning disability teams, and the post holder will work within a full MDT that includes a Consultant Nurse, SLT, OT, Social work, Community nurse, and healthcare support workers.
If you are an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist with experience of supporting people with behaviours that challenge and with complex needs, this post offers an exciting opportunity to develop clinical and leadership skills and shape the development of a new service. You will offer expertise in MDT case formulation, direct clinical case input where necessary, will provide a systemic view of the issues.
The team base is in Preston, where the whole team meet weekly to review caseloads. The team otherwise operate an agile model, undertaking a high degree of patient visits across the operational footprint. The post holder will expect to travel to a variety of community locations across the footprint to meet client needs.
You will receive regular clinical & professional supervision from a Clinical Psychologist and you will also benefit from being a member of the Learning Disability Psychology Specialty as well as the wider Psychological Professions Community within LSCFT.
1. To provide a Clinical Psychology Service to individuals in receipt of services from the Intensive Support Team (IST), including the provision of enhanced specialist psychological assessment and therapy, working within the policies, procedures and protocols applicable to the service.
2. To offer advice and consultation on individuals’ psychological care to psychology and non-psychology colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures. To develop advanced skills in consultancy by implementing formal systems of consultancy within the nominated team(s), as directed and guided by your Locality Professional Lead and his/her deputies.
3. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the designated area of responsibility.
4. To utilise research skills, audit, policy and service development and research and implement policy changes within the areas served by the team/service in agreement with the relevant manager
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.
