With multiple sites in Shalford, Dunsfold, Warwick and a new purpose-built HQ on its way in Windlesham, the Gordon Murray Group continues to grow with multiple vehicle programmes currently in development. As a result, we currently have exciting opportunities for a Principal Engineer – Structures to join the team based in Shalford, Surrey.
Responsibilities:
Leadership in Structures Engineering:
Provide strategic leadership in the design and development of advanced Aluminium materials and structures. Drive innovation in structures engineering, setting the vision for the team and ensuring alignment with industry standards.
Materials Development:
Lead the development of alumium structures and assemblies, exploring new technologies and sustainable solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced materials into the overall vehicle design.
Structural Analysis and Optimization:
Utilize advanced engineering tools and methodologies to conduct structural analysis and optimization of composite components. Ensure optimal balance between performance, weight, and manufacturability in composite structures.
Manufacturing Processes:
Oversee the development and optimization of manufacturing processes for composite materials, ensuring scalability and efficiency. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to implement best practices and quality control measures.
Research and Development:
Stay at the forefront of composites technology, continuously researching and evaluating emerging trends and materials. Drive R&D initiatives to enhance the performance and sustainability of composite solutions.
Project Management:
Lead and manage complex projects within the composites domain, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met. Collaborate with project teams to integrate composites solutions into overall vehicle development.
Qualifications:
Education:
Ph.D. or Master's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
Extensive experience in structures engineering (predominantly low volume, castings, extrusions), including a proven track record of leading projects and teams.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in structural analysis tools, materials characterization, and composite manufacturing processes.
Leadership Skills:
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team of engineers.
