We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Principal Fire Engineer to join our Fire Engineering Team in Manchester.
Working on projects across multiple sectors you will provide strategic fire safety advice across the built environment developments including commercial, residential, infrastructure and transportation. This role presents a real depth and breadth of some of our most exciting project schemes and the opportunity to work in a team of highly skilled, talented engineers.
To be successful in this role you’ll possess:
A degree in Fire Engineering or similar, membership of the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or equivalent and experience working in a similar role, either at Principal level, or you could be a Senior Engineer ready for your next step. You will have excellent all round up to date knowledge of Part B of the Building Regulations, Fire Safety Order and other relevant legislation and design guidance documents. You'll be diligent, creative, able to manage your time effectively, be confident training and mentoring employees with less experience and have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Our core objective is to provide strategic fire safety advice and develop fire safety strategies that satisfy the functional requirements of Part B of the Building Regulations. We provide solutions that represent a mix of best-practice, expert judgement and innovative Fire Engineering solutions utilising different methods including computer modelling tools i.e. CFD and Evacuation modelling.
Working closely with our wider multi-disciplinary teams including MEP teams, Structural Engineers, Façade Specialists and Vertical Transport across Europe allows us to develop flexible proposals that satisfy every individual client requirement. We work closely with our Building Control and Golden Thread teams to ensure an all-rounded Fire Engineering service across all design and construction stages. We maximise the value of a scheme whilst maintaining robust levels of fire safety based on a sound understanding of all the competing issues involved. This includes access to expertise available from Fire Engineering Teams and Modelling resources available from SWECO Sweden, Belgium and India.
