LEDNet (London Environment Directors Network) is a professional network of senior environment leaders across London boroughs, providing and commissioning services and solutions to all of London. LEDNet is working with London Councils, GLA, Central Government and other professional bodies to achieve the most effective and efficient services for all Londoners.
The post will sit within the Transport and Environment Policy Team at London Councils, which is the collective of London local government, the 32 boroughs and the City of London Corporation. They come together through London Councils to work in collaboration to deliver their shared ambitions for London and Londoners. Our services provide fair opportunities for all residents. They include the Freedom Pass, Taxicard, Health Emergency Badge and a grants programme for voluntary sector organisations in London on behalf of our members.
These are testing times for public services. Local government is facing challenges at a scale not previously experienced and include delivering more services with fewer resources, which require creative solutions. London local government is more and more looking to increased cross-borough collaboration, demand management, commercialisation and digital innovation as part of this.
We are looking for a highly motivated person with enthusiasm, innovative ideas and the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic, quickly changing policy environment.
You will manage an ambitious programme of activities; help find innovative solutions to boroughs huge challenges and research and analyse a variety of environmental policy issues. You will oversee a number of research and policy projects, as well as write briefings, presentations and reports.
You will work closely with senior London borough officers and Members as well as other key agencies and organisations to develop appropriate and challenging policy proposals. You will be talented at building effective relationships across sectors and be able to communicate, negotiate with and influence a diverse range of people.
We are looking for someone who will be part of the solution to London’s needs, developing creative approaches to key environmental policy issues. These challenges offer you opportunities to shape service delivery approaches and leave your mark on the London policy landscape.
