Job Description
- Develop and implement transport policy and strategy across Northern England
- Represent the organisation in discussions with key stakeholders including local authorities, industry partners, and central government
- Oversee and contribute to the production of key strategic documents and reports
- Lead on the delivery of specific projects and initiatives within the Policy and Strategy team
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure policy and strategy alignment
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented strategies
- Manage relationships with external consultants and contractors
- Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management and board members
The Successful Applicant
A successful Principal Policy & Strategy Officer will be a senior manager with experience in strategy and policy development in transport and/or economic growth. You will possess substantial understanding of the national and regional transport strategy and policy context, freight and logistics policy, and managing policy positions in a multi-agency environment as well as having extensive experience of developing complex transport strategies and coordinating the development of pan-organisational, complex transport proposals.As an experienced leader, you will be talented in creating positive working climates, establishing clear priorities and ensuring consistent performance improvement.A track record of dealing with and influencing at the highest levels within and beyond the organisation is essential as is the demonstrated effectiveness in developing and managing complex working relationships with external stakeholders at a national level.
