The Executive Office is a small but essential support function, providing support to the three most senior Statutory Officers (Chief Executive, City Solicitor, Section 151 officer) within the Council, as well as the Deputy CEX and the wider Strategic Management Team.  


The team is responsible for delivering against the priorities of the senior officers and ensuring the activity aligns to overall Council objectives.  
The team must ensure a strong network of relationships with internal and external stakeholders representing the CEX and Senior Officers professionally in all communications and ensuring that issues arising which impact on reputational risk for either the Council or the individuals themselves are dealt with and acted upon swiftly and confidentially.  
The team supports Council wide governance processes and leads on projects, as required, by the CEX, DCEX, Treasurer or City Solicitor including the Glade of Light memorial, the annual budget process, high profile in-visits and other high profile projects, bringing in cross council teams to support.

The Strategy & Policy Liaison Officer is responsible for providing high-level support to senior officers. Duties include: 
  • Management of the weekly Strategic Management Team Meetings
  • Managing effective Governance processes
  • Providing speeches, briefings and policy advice for key meetings
  • Providing project support for a number of key corporate projects
  • Project management for the Council's annual budget process
  • Organising corporate events including away days and key meetings
  • Liaising with stakeholders including; elected members, key partners and residents.
We are seeking a highly-organised, self motivated and proactive candidate with an interest in Local Government. Experience of providing support to Senior Officers and knowledge of council processes would be desirable.
