Job description

Some key information
  • This is a permanent, full-time post, 37 hours a week, with a current salary range of £23,893 - £25,979 per annum.
  • This role is based at Deane House, Taunton.
  • We offer hybrid working with this role, allowing you to work either from home or from one of our offices.
  • 25 days’ annual leave (plus bank holidays).
  • Take on a leading role withing a small, supportive team.

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of residents in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Undertaking a range of resident engagement activities, you will play a vital role in the delivery of Capital Programme contracts.

Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Acting as a visible contact point for residents, providing really useful information, reassurance, and assistance whilst work is being carried out in their homes.
  • Enabling essential works to take place by ensuring residents provide access to their homes. Where necessary, this may mean liaising with housing colleagues to take legal action.
  • Giving specialist guidance to Contract Managers on how works will impact residents, particularly those who are vulnerable, and where inconveniences can be mitigated.
  • Actively engaging with our residents, building and maintaining strong relationships. From organising meetings to creating communication plans on social media, you will help people to feel supported, informed, and aware of the works process.
  • Delivering high quality customer service, ensuring works are completed to a satisfactory level, and resolving complaints.

If you thrive on day-to-day interactions with people and are looking for a career where you can make a tangible difference to lives in the community, this could be the job for you.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:

  • An understanding of social housing and experience of resident engagement on construction related projects.
  • A good telephone manner and an ability to communicate with people both face to face and in writing. Part of this role involves preparing and giving presentations to non-experts, so being able to convey topics in a clear and comprehensible manner is key.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
  • A creative mind, able to approach topics from different angles.
  • Good people skillsand an ability to put people at ease. With your persuasive and encouraging manner, you will adopt a coaching style to enable customers.

You may already be experienced in the client-side of Resident Liaison or looking for the perfect opportunity to step across from tenancy. What’s key is that you’re an excellent communicator with a good understanding of the sector. So, whether you come from a Housing Association, Local Authority, or contractor background, we want to hear from you.

We’re proud to be here for the people of Somerset - and that means everyone in Somerset. An important part of this is ensuring that we are as diverse and inclusive as the people and communities we serve.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to enrich our team. You can always contact the hiring manager for a chat if there’s anything you want to talk about before you apply.
