An award-winning engineering consultancy is seeking to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer to join their Buildings and Built Environment team in Leeds. The ideal candidate will be technically competent to deliver high-quality structural designs and assessments for projects with an emphasis on early-stage design concepts. The projects encompass various sectors such as leisure, education, residential, commercial, health, and retail. Given the diverse range of projects, the ideal candidate should be versatile and adaptable, capable of handling multi-disciplinary projects from both a technical and commercial standpoint.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Acting as technical lead on projects large and small.
- Liaising with and leading other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives.
- Carrying out Structural Engineering assessments and inspections of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
- Ensuring that quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports etc.) is maintained.
- Preparing high quality technical reports including structural surveys
- Liaising and attending meetings with clients, subcontractors and other professionals whilst representing the business in a professional and courteous way.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status is desirable, preferably IStructE but experience and knowledge are key.
- 10 years postgraduate/qualification experience over a wide variety of sectors but medium to high rise residential, education, logistics and commercial being key.
- Design experience preparing structural designs in all conventional materials and experience in refurbishment projects.
- Experience in the use of Eurocodes.
- Proficiency in industry related software such as Tekla, TEDDS and Revit or similar.
