We're working in partnership with a West Midlands University to assist them in their search for new staff within their print production department.They are currently looking for a Printer Operator to support in all aspects of the print and distribution services they offer, to both the university and a limited number of external clients.
The role is varied, you'll operate a variety of equipment to produce large and small format goods, including basic artworking at pre-press stages. You'll also be involved in some aspects of fitting and delivering printed articles around the University, so having some knowledge of fitting graphics etc is highly advantageous, you'll also need a full UK driving licence as you'll be driving their small van.
This is a full time permanent position, working Monday to Friday 08:30am – 4:45pm
The Role:Undertake basic print preparation art working and pre-flight checks including the sending out of proofs and liaising with customers on any art working issues.
Assist with the production and planning workflow taking responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all print, finishing and distribution machines including basic maintenance and quality adherence.
Ensure stock levels are maintained at an appropriate level to ensure the smooth operation of the service.
Cross check all print specifications for accuracy against the customer brief and make sure that the most cost and time effective print production and distribution method is utilised ensuring quality is maintained throughout the process.
Liaise with external suppliers ensuring accuracy, quality standards; delivery schedules and value for money are achieved in all dealings with 3rd party suppliers.
Preparing goods for dispatch and working closely with distribution partners (DHL and Royal Mail)
The Candidate:Experienced digital Printer Operator with a technical mindset
Full UK driving licence (essential)
Basic working knowledge of Print MIS
Basic working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Fiery RIP software and Quite Imposing software (desirable)
Ability to work well individually, with minimal management, and as part of a team
Proactive and responsible, takes pride in their work
Fantastic organisational and problem solving skills
Self-motivated, enthusiastic and with a good sense of humour
Able to respond positively and effectively to changing priorities as they arise
Understands the importance of equality and diversity in the workplace.
Salary + BenefitsSalary starts at £25,800 to £27,500 based on experience.
