Overview
 
  • The Senior Banking Executive (SBE) will primarily focus on line managing, developing and leading the Private Banking Executives (PBE) and distributing and controlling their workflow, whilst working closely with the department Director to ensure efficient and effective operational controls within a strong cultural environment.
  •  The SBE will also directly support the Private Bankers (PB) with client acquisition/retention and other operational requests. The SBE will act as a proxy for the PB, representing them in meetings or communications, whist also overseeing the PBE’s in the same way. The SBE will engage in direct client contact.
Where applicable, to place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a way that is consistent with achieving good outcomes for consumers; and to comply with the FCA and PRA's Conduct Rules. 
 

Key Responsibilities: 

Client service and Sales support

  • Main point of contact and accountability for clients with respect to their day-to-day banking requirements.
  • Building and monitoring client relationships.
  • Supporting Private Bankers in developing, growing, and retaining their portfolio of HNW Clients, ensuring a quality of service is provided at all times.
  • Competent at identifying new sales opportunities.
  • Undertaking proactive client calls and ensuring PBs follow up on all client leads and facilitate client meetings.
  • Preparing full client briefs and research for private bankers.
  • Managing account maintenance procedures – including account opening and account closing.
  • Initiating, discussing and completing Credit Applications on behalf of Private Bankers.
  • Monitoring the return of Facility letters, and completion of LMF/interest rate/fee forms.
  • Monitoring, preparing and/or carrying out annual credit reviews, ensuring they are completed in a timely manner, ahead of the expiry/due date.
  • Completing daily reports including DLT, CVR, RRPR and Broken limits.
  • Monitoring, preparing and/or completing annual KYC reviews – maintaining client files in the process, to ensure they are completed in timely manner ahead of the due date.
  • Monitoring upcoming loan reports on a weekly basis contacting clients where necessary for covering funds.
  • Reviewing the maturing deposits report, liaising with banker/client where appropriate to send new rate sheets.
  • Monitoring complaints log to ensure complaint procedures are followed and timescales adhered to.
  • Ensuring Financial Information is monitored where required & received within the correct timescales.Covenants tested where applicable.

Team Management

  • Managing, coaching, developing and motivating a team of PBEs to exceed and deliver PB and client requests whilst ensuring unwavering commitment to client service.
  • Being organised and able to perform individual workflow priorities as well as managing/overseeing the workflow of the PBE’s.
  • Day to day performance management of PBE direct reports.
  • Conducting performance reviews for PBE direct reports including monthly 1:1’s, mid-year and end of year reviews.
  • Managing initial performance issues, escalating longer term complex issues where appropriate.
  • Taking responsibility for direct reports risk and regulatory performance whilst promoting a team risk culture.
  • Managing and working with HR in respect of personnel changes within the team, such as changes to contracts.
  • Running workflow meetings to delegate and share workload amongst the team.
General Administration
 
  • Preparing client communications
  • Preparing account opening forms
  • Responsible for keeping client records updated
  • Instigating and maintaining client files

Private Banker’s organisation

  • Organising, maintaining, and coordinating diaries for the Private Bankers (including future planning of meetings, meeting preparation, planning for issues)
  • Organising travel schedules.
Supporting the Bank’s change and innovation agenda
 
  • Completing user acceptance testing of technology updates, new functionality and systems used in front office as required.
  • Providing input to change projects to give ideas and requirements as appropriate.
  • Taking on champion roles and encouraging direct reports to do the same.
Risk
 
  • Completing compliance regulatory exams, adhering to both legal and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • Ability to act in a supervisory / line management capacity
  • Significant experience in Client Facing Roles with a proven ability to provide a very high level of service and, always, keeping the client at the heart of everything we do.
  • Proven private banking experience supporting a Private Banking business
  • A thorough understanding of HNW segment and market
  • Detailed and demonstrable technical knowledge around all areas of Lending
  • Detailed knowledge of regulatory requirements covering money laundering and criminal activity
  • Strong interest in financial markets
  • Experience of wealth management in banking products
  • Multi-tasking capability
  • Proven ability to work under pressure with a demanding and heavy workload
  •  A good understanding of Banking Systems and be IT literate, and a high understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills are essential for this role
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills

Qualifications:

  • Working towards or already holding a valid professional qualification in CeMAP (or equivalent)
