We have an excellent opportunity for a Process Controller working as part of the sludge stream team at Beckton Sewage Treatment Works, East London. You’ll control the Sludge Powered Generator and be a key player in the site’s day-to-day operations.
The Sludge Powered Generator (SPG) apart of the Thermal Hysteresis Plant (THP) is hugely important for maximising green power generation and helping Thames Water to achieve its net zero 2050 targets. The SPG team work a 38 hour week across various 12 hour shifts.
What you’ll be doing as a Process Controller
  • Operation of plant and equipment, ensuring continuous operation of the SPG/THP and associated plants and processes to maximise power throughout
  • Chemical stock management
  • Interact with our internal and external customers, peers & colleagues in a professional, committed, respectful, efficient, and polite manner.
  • Conducting site inductions and working with Thames Water’s perimetry system.
  • Undertake safety, security, and housekeeping checks
  • Fault finding, reviewing trends and data gathering from SCADA
  • Make sure the health, safety and well-being of employees and other affected persons is a top priority
  • Visual inspection of key areas and in-line monitor checking/calibrating
  • Monitoring, interpretation, collating, and reporting of analysis data to ensure the correct process operation, and to meet statutory and regulatory Thames Water compliance requirements
  • Maintaining site security
  • Assist the management team in conducting day-to-day operational needs
  • Be willing to provide cover for the Process Controller on shift at short notice
What should you bring to the role?
  • Qualification within mechanical/electrical/chemical is essential for this role.
  • Previous working experience in Process Operation.
  • Previous SCADA experience would be beneficial.
  • Be fully competent at using the appropriate company IT systems and office software.
  • An ability to work in a team and develop relationships across departments.
  • Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving licence is required.
