Job Summary
My client is seeking an experienced and driven Procurement Manager to establish and lead their procurement function. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement policies, strategies, and best practices to optimise sourcing, cost efficiency, and supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead the procurement function by driving the development and execution of procurement strategies aligned with the organisation's goals.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand procurement needs and requirements, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of goods and services.
- Develop, implement, and manage procurement policies, procedures, and best practices, promoting standardisation and compliance across the organisation.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers that align with quality, cost, and delivery expectations, negotiating favourable terms and contracts.
- Monitor market trends, industry developments, and technological advancements to proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings.
- Lead supplier performance evaluations, addressing issues and fostering strong, collaborative relationships to drive mutual success.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and innovation.
- Collaborate with finance to establish and manage procurement budgets, tracking expenditures and reporting on cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
The ideal candidate:
- Understanding of end-to-end planning and supply chain management
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials and quality control standards
- End to end exposure of procurement bid proposals, contract negotiations, and value add
- Previous industry experience within a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication skills with the gravitas and confidence to lead on large negotiations and scope strategies.
- Degree or MCIPS (preferred)
Salary up to £65,000
Based across 2 sites in South Buckinghamshire and Northants with also options to be home based - the exact make up of working week will be down to this individual to demonstrate where their time is best spent
