Procurement Officer

Key Objectives
To monitor, maintain and identify new supplier relationships to ensure the company's procurement and supply chain objectives are met to support our own customer relationships and customer service metrics.
Duties / Requirements
* Undertake day-to-day routine purchasing activities.
* Perform regular and comprehensive performance reviews across the supply base, through formal supplier review meetings.
* Identify and implement corrective action plans to improve quality, cost and delivery performance.
* Develop improved purchasing methods to derive greater department efficiencies.
* Liaise between suppliers, manufacturing, sales, R&D and other relevant internal departments to develop optimum supply.
* Lead supplier development programmes that drives fundamental change within the supply chain to support future customer and business needs
Skills
* Minimum 5 years in a procurement role working independently carrying out negotiations, supplier visits, sourcing new products
* Procurement qualification - ideally IoSCM
* Knowledge of MRP, specifically Microsoft Dynamics is preferable
* Background in engineering would be ideal but not necessary
* Extensive time served and experience within a procurement function dealing with negotiation, placing orders, carrying out supplier visits / audits
* Finding new suppliers and alternative products
Hours of work
Monday to Friday:
8/9 am to 4/5 pm - 7 hour working day with 1 hour for lunch. 35 hours per week.
Although the successful candidate will be expected to be flexible and work the hours required to succeed in the role.
This role would suit candidates with proven experience in buying/procurement/supply chain who are looking to move into a role with more responsibility or challenges.
Similarly, candidates looking to reduce responsibilities who have previously worked at a higher level, willing to mentor and pass on knowledge and skills would be a welcome addition to the company.
