Product and Pricing Specialist

Job Type: Contract, Full Time, Hybrid pattern of working in place

Location: Huntingdon

A supplier of high-quality metals and materials, Goodfellow specialises in the research and development sectors with a strong focus on science and industry. Their technical teams have worked on materials that have contributed to scientific breakthroughs in nuclear fusion, the fight against COVID-19, and have been used in probes that have travelled through space as far as Saturn.

The Role

Reporting to the Product Manager, the Product Specialist will be responsible for the pricing of customer enquiries to maximise their conversion to order rates. The Product Specialist will manage and control the pricing process and supply of parts for designated category within their responsibility. Key task for this position involves evaluating the costs associated with customer requirements, with a focus on securing business opportunities while upholding the company's profit margins.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure customer enquiries are actioned in a timely manner and within SLA.
  • Create part numbers in the ERP system: Accurately generate and assign part numbers for various products according to established guidelines and protocols. Ensure consistency and integrity of data entries.
  • Make price recommendations for bespoke products: Collaborate with Sales and Category Managers to analyse market trends, competitive landscape, and production costs to provide accurate and competitive pricing recommendations for customized or unique products.
  • Update Sales team members on the progress of ongoing enquiries, estimated delivery dates and costing decisions

Skills & Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in pricing recommendations or similar discipline.
  • A mindset that puts the customer at the centre of everything they do.
  • Passion for providing service excellence and a drive to achieve results.
  • Demonstrable numerical and problem-solving ability in similar situations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage and maintain accurate product data.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive and flexible.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and proficiency in using relevant software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Knowledge of a product range and marketplace in keeping with Goodfellow offering is an advantage but not essential.
