Main purpose of role


The Product Delivery Manager is accountable for the product ownership and delivery of retail card acceptance initiatives and improvements to platforms and technologies. You are responsible for the end to end Product Delivery ending with developed and implemented products that meet merchant needs and enable revenue growth.
This role combines delivering results, contributing to product vision and working with other senior members of the business and third party suppliers to ensure that solutions are developed. You will be adept at delivering complex IT change and removing any barriers to delivery to create an environment in which the team can succeed. You will coach team members and facilitate continuous improvement and apply the most appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques for the environment that helps maintain focus on delivering value against the product or transformation vision.

The role will work closely with business stakeholders to help build roadmaps, ensure they are grounded, and that the vision is understood and shared with the team.
This is a hybrid role, based in Welwyn Garden City 1-2 days per week, with ad-hoc travel to acquiers and the Liverpool office.


What will you be doing?
Your main responsibilities will include:
Agile and Lean Delivery: The role is accountable for delivering change and new products using agile and lean principles through a cross-functional team. The role will be accountable for the delivery practice, and the quality of the team outputs and provide quality estimates and forecasts at different stages of the delivery lifecycle. The role will work alongside business stakeholders to ensure roadmaps are grounded and those roadmaps are shared are understood by the team.
Product Ownership: You should have the ability to plan and manage initiatives from start to finish, and ensure that products meet the customer's needs. Detail-oriented and have excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Strategizing and presenting ideas to stakeholders, defining product features and managing prioritisation to ensure maximum value from partners and delivery teams. A master of creating and managing backlog items and working with stakeholders and engineers to deliver best in class solutions.
Line Management: The role is accountable for the line management of a team of engineers, including contract staff. The role is accountable for clearly defining the oversight and mentoring that is required to provide the individual performer with the right environment for them to be successful.
Continuous Improvement: The role is accountable for assuring that the team regularly engage in continuous learning, currently carved out and that lessons are continually fed back into the team’s working practices to ensure that the team performance continually improves.
Tools and environments: The role is accountable for identifying the necessary tools and environments needed to allow the team to perform at a high standard.
Management Information: The role will be responsible for providing management information on a regular basis that allows the performance of the team to be monitored against agreed targets and set budgets.
Stakeholder Management: The role will have significant visibility across the organisation and will be required to effectively manage stakeholders at various levels. It will be vital for the role to build strong working relationships with the business stakeholders and partners. There is a particular focus for management of third-parties and suppliers.
Service: The role will ensure that people, processes, products, technology, and partners or suppliers are bedded into PayPoint with sufficient monitoring, knowledge base and processes to maximise availability and enable the ability for the team to react quickly, to issues when they occur.
What would we like from you?

  • Delivery Manager and Product Owner experience within Merchant Services and a strong understanding of card acceptance solutions, schemes and regulations
  • A track record of delivering successful change to software and hardware products.
  • Solid and repeatedly demonstrated problem solving abilities and evidence of use analytical skills to determine future actions and assess past decisions.
  • Sufficient technical background to be able understand and challenge plans, design, and issues within technical projects and assess the appropriateness of any approach proposed by the team.
  • Proven experience balancing multiple priorities and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the business and with external teams.
  • Experience of influencing stakeholders to deliver quality product development whilst meeting tight deadlines
  • Minimum 2 years line management experience of mentoring technical staff and engineers.
  • Experience of creating an environment that encourages continuous learning, and a track record of creating high performing and motivated teams.
  • Master of creating and managing product backlogs and ensuring that the team are working on the most value items at any point in time.
It would be great if you already have…
  • Experience of both card present and card not present products and solutions (e-commerce and digital payments).
  • Experience of engaging with card terminal manafacturers and management of third party suppliers.
  • Azure DevOps knowledge.
  • Experience of delivering APIs and mobile applications
