To aid their vision of a strong design aesthetic they are looking for a Product Design Engineer to help support all technical aspects of both new Product Design and product improvements of existing collections. You will be collaborating with the product team to ensure the successful delivery of twice-yearly product launches, with the overall business strategy in mind. With sustainability at the heart of what they do you will be considering these commitments throughout every part of the process.
They offer hybrid working and are open to candidates living either near their London office and showroom, or their Leicester office and workshops. You will however be expected to travel regularly to the workshops and other office.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring each design is ready for manufacture with complete technical packs in the form of detailed assembly drawings, lighting BOMs and installation guides
- Considering the compliance of all products to ensure each product produced meets all regulatory standards, including UK lighting standards with the support of the Senior Design Engineer
- Supporting the product improvement process considering business needs, product performance and margin gain behind each improvement
- Ensuring suitable construction methods are used for each design and considering how this impacts the workshops and supports future workshop growth plans
- Providing product training to the wider business
Skills and Experience needed for the Product Design Engineer:
- 4 - 5 years’ experience within the product development sector, preferably lighting and/or furniture
- SolidWorks proficiency
- Good communication and collaborative skills
- Able to work to deadlines with strong planning, prioritisation and time management skills
- A keen eye for detail, with an appreciation for craftsmanship, materials and sustainability
- A driving licence is essential as there will be a requirement for visiting workshops
