Product Engineer Manager - NW London
A family-owned business located in London that has built an enviable reputation over the past 25 years, we design and manufacture a range of luxury lighting distributed through our worldwide sales network working with some of the leading design retailers and designers in the world.
Our head office/ showroom is in London with an Assembly facility in Birmingham, all our lights are hand-made by our skilled production team with the majority of our components sourced in the UK and unique parts from Europe.
We are looking for a Product Engineer Manager to work within the Design team reporting directly to the Design Manager. We are looking for someone who wants to join our friendly and experienced team, working within a fast-paced commercial environment to expand and support our existing product range.
You Will
  • Manage NPD development and engineering of new lighting fixtures collections, based on pre-determined concepts for production ensuring cost, quality, and parameters are met.
  • Manage team’s activities, overseas and allocate tasks, ensuring the critical path with key dates are met and processes are followed.
  • Oversee R&D, pre-production, product testing, and work with external laboratories.
  • Ensure all new and existing designs comply with UKCA, CE, cULus, and any other international lighting and wiring standards.
  • Ensuring Quality and Production of new lights are of high standards. Tests, evaluations, and documentation are to be completed during the development stage. All Q&P documents are to be issued on time to relevant departments and training is to be completed according to NPD.
  • Collaborate with the operations department to ensure the products and supporting collaterals meet the required standards for correct manufacturing and assembly.
  • Liaise with the supply chain department and production team to optimise the manufacturing, assembly, and shipping methods of the products.
  • Seek new manufacturing partners for design briefs. Work with the supply chain department on evaluating suppliers and choosing the right partner for new product development as well as for production.
  • Manage document revisions and work with other departments to ensure the correct flow of information.
  • Implement and manage CAD and key document file library that’s used across departments, for correct manufacturing, assembly, installation, and testing of our products.
We Would Like
  • Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the development and engineering of lighting fittings.
  • Experience in managing people/teams.
  • A clear understanding of international lighting standards, lighting control systems, LEDs, drivers, and other electronic hardware used in lighting.
  • A passion for Product Engineering with meticulous attention to detail and keen on pragmatic problem-solving.
  • Experience in liaising with other departments, factories, and new suppliers. Seeking and implementing new methods of production and being familiar with workshop facilities.
  • Expert in CAD (SolidWorks), Adobe (Photoshop/ InDesign/ Illustrator), MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills
As The Ideal Candidate, You Must Have
  • Experience in developing and engineering concepts into manufacturable products.
  • Critical path planning and project management skills.
  • Team management skills
  • Experienced in leasing with manufacturers to develop new elements and price negotiation.
  • A clear product testing procedure.
  • Experienced in manufacturing techniques and finishing methods.
  • Be flexible, and adaptable with a dynamic approach to your work and lots of common sense.
  • Be mature, enthusiastic, and professional with others either internally or externally.
  • Enjoy a challenge and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • Clean driving license.
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK without the need for company sponsorship

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30 am to 5.30 pm and Friday 8.30 am to 3:30 pm
