Job description

We are looking for a committed and experienced individual to lead a team of Product Engineers to launch or develop existing products that deliver growth, performance and/or savings to our business, through the analysis of our processes and materials, with an aim to drive a specific and targeted programme across the company portfolio.The successful candidate will lead New Product Introduction (NPI) of new feature developments, for industrialisation in production, with responsibility also to lead Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) projects that result in maintaining product integrity and quality whilst realising improvements to product cost, feature or functions. This will be driven through the utilisation of VAVE methodologies and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) which focus on existing product portfolios, new products and designs.The role holder will ensure NPI and VAVE projects are managed through the Product Development Process (PDP), meeting all required deliverables on-time and in full.Lastly, you will also develop and support a high performing team of Product Engineers to support and realise the Innovation Strategy.Key Responsibilities Lead cross functional teams including factories, procurement and development to deliver NPI/VAVE projects in-line with the project portfolio.Lead, train and performance manage a team of Product Engineers ensuring resource is allocated to realise objectives and targets.Apply Lean/APQP/VAVE/Six Sigma core tools such as DFMEA, Safe Launch Control etc demonstrating best practice to other disciplines across the business.Work closely with design, manufacturing and product development to recommend modifications based on producibility, cost, and component technology factors.Coordinate testing of alternative process/products and equipment, evaluates test results, and approves or rejects usage of parts and equipment based on results and data.Maintain and improve tracking mechanism of initiated VAVE cost savings ideas to provide VAVE throughput performance metrics for monthly reviews.Responsible for delivering yearly cost savings as defined by VAVE objectives.Contract type: PermanentWorking hours: Full Time – 36.5 hrs per week (9am – 5:15pm Mon, 9am – 5pm Tues – Fri)Base location: Basingstoke ViablesSkills, Qualifications & Experience Experience within any background such as continuous improvement, materials development, process or quality engineering disciplines, preferably leading multiple projects and involved in NPI /APQP.Experience of leading teams and/or managing personal developmentHigh levels of diligence and attention to detail is a requirementKnowledge and experience of using Lean/Six Sigma tools, Green Belt minimum preferred.Familiarity with manufacturing processes.Familiarity with printing production processes and design methodology a bonus.Demonstrates strong communications skills and able to work well with other areas of the business to understand and assist in technical problems solving.Can work proactively and independently on problems and deliver the results clearly to interested parties.Ability to travel and work away from home for short periods of time.About De La RueDe La Rue’s purpose is securing trust between people, businesses, and governments.We operate across six continents to provide highly secure physical and digital solutions to 140 countries.
