The Role
The Production Improvement Manager is responsible for the development, and improvement of all aspects of the production area, and is a key player in optimising efficiency, quality, and safety within a production facility. you will wear many hats, focusing on the continuous improvement of all aspects of production.
Examples of this role will include;
Identifying areas for improvement.
- Analysing production data to pinpoint bottlenecks, waste, and quality issues.
- Observing production processes first-hand to identify inefficiencies and potential safety hazards.
- Staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices to find innovative solutions.
- Ensure root-cause are made visible and appropriate interventions to prevent reoccurrence are captured in SOP's
Implementing improvement initiatives:
- Leading or participating in projects to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Collaborating with the managers, supervisors, and production staff to implement changes effectively.
- Facilitating training and workshops to ensure everyone understands new procedures.
Monitoring and measuring results:
- Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of improvement initiatives.
- Analysing data to identify further areas for improvement or fine-tuning existing processes.
- Reporting progress and results to stakeholders, including management and production teams.
Additional responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards.
- Staying informed about new technologies and equipment that can enhance production.
- Fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the production team.
Skills and qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Project management experience.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and tools.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment is a plus.
