Welcome to Hovis. We are the proud guardians of over 130 years of baking experience that make up our iconic and much-loved brand. We produce bread and bakery products created with Hovis goodness at the heart of each. We deliver around 1.3million loaves, every day of the week throughout the UK and Ireland, where we also make Mothers Pride and Ormo products. 

 

We are 2,800 people working within 8 bakeries, 1 flour mill, and 2 regional distribution centres across the UK. Our success is a result of the hard work of our people;  they are experts in their field whether it’s baking, manufacturing, logistics, engineering, or the many departments within the central functions team based in our head office in High Wycombe. ROLE PURPOSE:  To be part of a team providing essential maintenance operations, whilst maintaining Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards, in order to provide maximum manufacturing efficiency at Forest Gate.

Key Activities/ Decision Areas


Customers

 

  • Effective Communication within and outside team environment, carrying out team briefing and presentations where required
  • Ensuring high standards of hygiene in despatch and surrounding areas, through the use of Clean as you go, liaison with Technical Services teams, or by using own team to accomplish tasks.  Adherence to and improvement of hygiene schedules. Ensure total compliance with all applicable corporate and legal standards (personal safety, food safety, quality, hygiene and environment). 

 

Strategy and Planning

 

 

  • Control of Labour to meet budget / standard
  • Holiday planning
  • Staff recruitment
  • Absence control (referral to high level Management in event of action required)
  • Staff Performance (referral to high level Management in event of action required)
  • Training of staff to be flexible between different disciplines and skill levels
  • Team development
  • Utilisation of labour across plants and functions to maximise efficiency and cost

 
Execution & implementation

 

  • Ensuring all documentation is correctly completed and actions derived from recordings is executed.  This may include the use of incident reporting
  • Ensure the team are all trained to a good standard with cover for all areas in place & compliant to all appropriate procedures i.e. lock off procedure.
  • Financial and Operational Control
  • To adhere to company specifications and Targets.
  • To monitor and take corrective action to maintain and in prove quality.
  • To ensure all risk leading to customer dissatisfaction is eliminated.
  • Manning levels budget or better 
  • Achieving capacity unit as targets set 
  • Life Long Customer Loyalty – Non Conformance/ Compliance to plant settings 
  • Cross functional planning 
  • To work as a member of the team with colleagues of similar status and responsibilities and across all departments

  • To action any maintenance requirements by liaising with the engineering department and reporting through the works order procedure.
