About the Role
- Manage employees and day to day activities of the Uplift team to deliver the manufacture, assembly, integration and test of complex hardware on time to cost and quality. (off site facilities)
- Responsible for planning, coordination of cross functional teams and control of manufacturing processes to deliver on-time to cost and quality.
- Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to company and legislative ESH requirements, processes and procedures.
- Lead the team to implement a culture of safety and drive risk reductions.
- Lead through lean manufacture to achieve operational excellence in safety, quality, utilisation, yield and cost management. Implement best practice throughout the operation.
- Manage team's performance to include time keeping, sickness, holiday's, work assignments, compliance training, salary, recognition and reward, disciplinary actions / grievance procedures.
- Manage budget requirements for overheads and GWE. Manage spending to overhead allocations.
- Ensure management of 6S and FOE, standard work, visual management and KPI's for short and long term goals.
- Collaborating with the internal and external compliance teams; develop a robust approach to ensuring compliance to all regulations (internal & external).
- Develop strong relationships and collaboration by developing a stakeholder plan to engage and work with key stakeholders across functions, programmes and to senior management.
- Escalation of issues into business functions (Quality, Operations, Engineering, ESH, Facilities, etc.) via Operations project Management Team and MDWT Structure
- Ownership and management of manufacturing facilities, equipment and tooling.
- Point of Contact with Functional and AJAX Programme Teams at Merthyr, Tydfil and Ampthill
Required skills, qualifications and experience
- Proven experience as a Production Manager or related role
- Demonstrated lean manufacture and operational excellence
- Process focused leadership, coaching, communication and influencing skills
- Microsoft office, MRP systems, 6S and FOE
- Problem solving skills, Priority management and balancing
- Experience of leading a team to achieve and successfully met business and Programme targets
- Production management in Defence, Aerospace or related high value, low volume production environment
- Experience of managing disparate teams
- Currently or previously held SC or DV level security clearance
