An opportunity has arisen at our Darlington site for a Multi Point Gluing operative to play an integral role in the Conversion Department. The position will report to the Number 1 Operator or directly to the Shift Managers depending on experience.
The primary purpose of the No 2. Operator is to ensure the product is produced to specification off the Multi-Point Gluing, tray erector and wrap & strap machines and to provide relief cover for the packers and No. 1 Operator when required.
The main duties of the role are to:
- Comply with the company Health & Safety, Hygiene and Environmental Regulations.
- Work in conjunction with the No. 1 operator in the technical setting up of the machines and the safe running of the machines.
- Make running alterations when deputising for No. 1 operator.
- Strip out waste from blanks and load the machine hopper removing empty pallets when required.
- Identify, locate and bring pallets of blanks to the machine.
- Set the Imaje label machine.
- Train other personnel as and when required to ensure continuity.
- Complete all Kiwi transactions including pallet tickets.
- Complete quality checks when covering for the No. 1 operator.
- Complete associated safety checks and hygiene checks (Hygiene BRC 1 checks)
- Visually and physical check the product for quality
- Comply with quality task instruction, to ensure that finished product achieves the required specification.
- Rotate with Packing, Palletising and Operating sections on a regular basis
- Flexibility to redeploy to other area's of the factory when required.
To succeed in this role you will need:
- Experience of running Multi Point Gluing machines.
- Experience of working in a high volume manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The ability to work to targets and achieve results.

- Problem solving ability.
- An excellent team working ethic.
- A good demonstrable knowledge of Health & Safety, Hygiene and Environmental practices.
