Job description

THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced leader of the Accounting and Financial Management Department to drive innovation and academic excellence. You will be an accomplished academic, capable of guiding and nurturing a team of international and ambitious researchers and educators.  We are a cohesive yet diverse team working across a range of research topics and approaches. We have strategic links with various academic associations and key professional bodies. We have published in leading journals such as Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Accounting Review, British Accounting Review, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, European Accounting Review, International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of Accounting Research, and many other highly regarded international journals. We also hold positions on the editorial boards of leading international accounting journals.  This full-time role encompasses two key components: Professor of Accounting (permanent) and Head of the Accounting and Financial Management Department (initial three years, with potential for renewal).  In your capacity as a Professor of Accounting, you will play a pivotal role in both teaching and research, contributing to our mission of delivering exceptional education and impactful research that extends beyond academia.  As Head of Department, you will be a member of the School’s Senior Management Team, providing strategic leadership to the Department and ensuring alignment with the School’s objectives and strategies.  WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING In this dual role, your responsibilities will include: Providing strategic direction to the Department, aligning its activities with the University and Schools strategic plans. Overseeing staff leadership and management, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment, and managing workloads equitably. Engaging actively in specialized research areas, maintaining a strong record of publications, and mentoring emerging researchers and students. Promoting research excellence by securing competitive research grants, leading significant research projects, and fostering collaborations. Demonstrating strong and committed leadership in teaching, curriculum development, and innovation. Cultivating collaborative partnerships within the university and the wider community.
