About us
The Local Government Association (LGA) is the national membership body for local authorities. We work on behalf of our member councils to support, promote and improve local government.
We are a politically led, cross-party organisation that works on behalf of councils to ensure local government has a strong, credible voice with national government. We influence and set the political agenda on the issues that matter to councils to help them deliver local solutions to national problems.
We also provide councils with the tools and resources to respond to challenges present and emerging, and support improvement across the sector.
About the role
The Research and Information Team is looking for a Programme Manager for their Data Programme, to help local authorities make better use of data, and to represent the sector to external stakeholders, ensuring they understand the position and needs of local government in relation to data.
The post is office-based, with opportunities for home-working. This will be in line with the LGA’s flexible working policy, where currently staff have to attend our Westminster office a minimum of two days a week.

About you
The Research and Information Team are looking for an experienced person who can define, set-up, manage and lead significant programmes and/or portfolios of work on Data and Transparency.
It’s essential that you have a good knowledge of data, including data standards, practical applications of data within local government, data burden and data policies that apply to local government. This post will be offered to an excellent communicator, with the knowledge, experience and credibility to engage with government and other stakeholders; but also a record of delivering programmes of work.
