About the Role

The School of Travel Food and Drink offers a wide range of study programmes and apprenticeship opportunities for students aged 16-18 and 19+ who are looking to pursue a career in Hospitality, Catering, Aviation and Travel and Tourism.

Our course offers range from Entry 3, for learners who may be applying to college with no previous experience, or relevant qualifications, through to Level 3 Extended programmes of study which enable students to progress to higher education or supervisory positions within industry.

The team have an extensive range of skills, knowledge and experience from their specialist industry backgrounds which is invaluable to the teaching, learning and assessment process.

The Programme Manager for Personal Development, Behaviour and Attitudes will demonstrate a commitment to supporting and managing barriers to leaning to ensure students are able to access and enjoy a positive learning experience. The management of our outstanding maths and English team will also be a key aspect of this role, ensuring attendance is a priority, in line with the departmental QIP and Luminate key strategies.

What You Will Do

  • Line management of the Pastoral and GCSE maths and English team.
  • An ability to build and maintain close working relationships with our existing team in order to ensure a consistent and rigorous approach to PDBA, which is at the forefront of our practice across the department.
  • You will lead activities to ensure effective planning, preparation & development of schemes of learning and engaging teaching & learning resources, including the development of on-line learning for identified courses.
  • You will ensure effective delivery of sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods, for identified courses within the PDBA remit.
  • Cultivate and create positive relationships with learners/parents/carers to support learners to achieve their full potential
  • Provide constructive feedback to help learners improve & record learner’s progress for identified courses.
  • You will lead and support the team with the retention, achievement, success & attendance for identified courses.
  • You will contribute to the marketing of courses, learner IAG & enrolment processes..

About You

  • You should be experienced, knowledgeable and skilled in the key themes of the PDBA strand. 
  • Have a passion for supporting students with all aspects of TLA, safeguarding and general well-being.
  • You should have an appetite for ensuring the department works collaboratively in meeting campus (and Luminate) PDBA targets Level 5 (or above) teaching qualification and a willingness to undertake further training to enhance the requirements of the role. 
  • You should have experience in working in Further Education to enhance the learner journey and have a recent teaching experience within the sector. 
  • Your approach should be empathic  to identifying and meeting student needs, with an ability to problem solve, in order to ensure the learner journey is not compromised wherever possible.
  • You should have a willingness and ability to be flexible towards the requirements of different staff and learner need
