  • Programme Tutor of Sport and Academies
  • Salary: £31,061 - £35,997 per annum

The Role:
The job role involves the delivery of teaching, learning and assessment within Sport and Academies. We have a fantastic partnership with Manchester City in the Community through which we service approximately 75 learners equating to 4 teams (3 male and 1 female); a partnership that offers truly once in a lifetime experiences from international work placements in New York and Abu Dhabi to flag bearing on matchdays, to name but few. Specifically, we are looking for an individual with expertise with BTEC through which we deliver a range of qualifications. Of interest to this post are:

You will be tasked with the delivery of the above playing an integral role in improving the team’s high grades outcomes. There may also be further opportunities to be involved in the delivery of our fitness academy. With this, we deliver Level 2 to Level 4 Personal Training, many upskilling and/or retraining programmes whilst we have future plans to diversify into strength and conditioning and sports massage.

This is a very important role. John Pietrzak, Head of Sport, says “We are excited to advertise this post in our search for a dynamic and ambitious tutor who can become an integral part of the team, supporting our journey towards becoming the best place to work and the best place to learn. This is an exciting time; we are a growing team in terms of learner recruitment, the college is investing heavily into facilities, resources and its staff, whilst this area is on a journey towards outstanding. If you feel like you are able to add value to our team and support this journey, we very much look forward to receiving your application”

  • Subsidised car parking
  • On-site Day Nursery

Oldham College is a medium sized general further education college, with a turnover of almost £25m. It has one main campus in the centre of town, and this is in the third phase of a £40m redevelopment which began in 2012. Higher education is taught on a second, dedicated campus, a short walk away. The College delivers a full range of work-related education and training, including 16-18 programmes of study, T levels, apprenticeships, adult learning and higher education. It has over 5000 full-time students and 600 undergraduates.
The College is in the top quartile for 16-18 programmes of study and English GCSE resits, and in apprenticeship provision, but is the second highest performing provider Greater Manchester. The quality of its higher education provision is better than many established universities.
The role will require you to embed and work to the college’s values; working with Integrity, having Ambition to help our learners succeed and being Inclusive to learners and colleagues alike.
Oldham College is a great career choice for ambitious professionals. With a “good” Ofsted rating, a Silver “TEF” assessment for our higher education provision, one of the best apprenticeship programmes in the region, excellent 16-18 results and truly outstanding GCSE English results, we are already a high performer.
But we want to deliver much more than this. Our ambition is to be “The Best Place to Learn and Work” and we have a clear Strategic Plan which sets out what this means and what we will do to deliver it. We will keep on improving and innovating, and we are investing in new provision, new facilities and new technology.
We expect a lot from you, so we want ambitious, open minded candidates, who are ready to give their best. But we give a lot in return, from training to pensions, our own benefits package, and one of the best and most helpful group of colleagues you could ever wish to meet. That’s true, by the way – ask almost anyone who has been here. Or come and see for yourself.
If you want to be outstanding, and want to help us achieve the same thing, then please apply.
If your application is successful, your personal data may be used for a pre-employment screening check by a third party as permitted by applicable law. Depending on the vacancy and applicable laws, a pre-employment screening could include, employment history, education and other information (such as media information) that may be necessary for determining your qualifications and suitability for the role.
Oldham College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.
Any appointments will be subject to enhanced DBS checks and a check of the DfE Barred List
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation Act 1974. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children and vulnerable adults.
