Project Buyer

Do you have project procurement experience ideally gained within an automotive or fast paced manufacturing environment, and are you looking for a new opportunity in Birmingham? Jonathan Lee Recruitment is seeking a full-time Project Buyer, the role comes with an attractive salary and benefits package. This role, due to the nature of the work is on site, with no hybrid. This automotive tier 2 manufacturing organisation is going through a period of growth and has picked up several new programmes of work. This is a new role within an expanding team. No sponsorship opportunity for overseas candidates. 

As a Project Buyer, you will interpret new project requirements, translating them into RFQ packs and issuing to suppliers to quote. You will be receiving quotes and converting them into sourcing documents to enable a senior selection process. It is imperative you have working understanding of technical and engineering drawings and have the commercial acumen to challenge and consult both internally and externally with engineers and suppliers. 

To give you an idea of how this flexible role would look and feel, here are some of the things you could expect to :

• Support commercial and launch teams to prepare customer quotations and help develop product specifications
• Interpret drawings and add into RFQ volume, quality standards and packaging requirements
• Assess supplier cost break downs
• Work on a technical basis with suppliers to help bring material usage and processing costs down
• Prepare sourcing documents to include non-disclosure agreements and supplier accreditation.

To apply for this Project Buyer role, your skills, expertise and experience should include direct and commodity purchasing experience including front end procurement, NPD, NPI, proof of concept and RFQ development Commodities are across all different groups working with suppliers globally, but if you have knowledge of the following, this would be interesting:

• Technical buying for Laser Welding, Cutting, Prelamination, Laminating, Cleaning, Pick and Place
• Product Marking/Bar-code, Solder Application, Injection Moulding, FPC Inkjet Printing, Automated Optical Inspection, Wet-line, Auto Cable Soldering.
