Project Buyer

SF Recruitment are working with a market leading, innovative manufacturing organisation in Dudley to recruit a Project Buyer. Hybrid working model & a fantastic working culture, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer.

You would be responsible for the development and relationship management of the supply chain and conduct Procurement department activities across project-based purchasing specifics and categories as specified, in line with the business strategy as defined by the board.

The role is expected to provide strong team support and to promote best practices in managing interrelated projects and programmes to ensure successful delivery and, to provide the business with a procurement service, that closely reflects the changing needs of the business's operational and support units ensuring best value, quality and environmental issues are paramount.
Specific Responsibilities:
- To support the Senior Procurement Lead with developing and implementing a category strategy and a supplier / subcontractor management programme in order to monitor ongoing performance against agreed service levels.
- To source, tender, procure and negotiate with supply chain including the analysis and commercial appraisal for outsourcing. To take the lead role in fully engaging with suppliers and managing and building mutually beneficial working relationships with key suppliers, ensuring that all stages of the supply chain process are monitored, controlled, analysed, and evaluated.
- Producing and analysing tender documentation relating to contracts for the supply of goods and services. Additionally, reviewing all tender and contract conditions ensuring the Company's interests are fully protected.
- Reviewing and inputting information to the procurement database to ensure easy retrieval of information, preparation of management reports and establishing an interface with the main data processing system, where achievable.
- Developing and reviewing procurement procedures which complement and support the Company's operational, commercial, and financial procedures.
- Managing the effective deployment of Procurement processes
- Understand and implement "supplier management" ethos/culture/processes.
- Anticipate and offer solutions to minimise costs and create opportunities.
Ideally the successful candidate will have experience in all or some of the following:
- Demonstrable track record of successfully leading a team, stakeholders, projects and resources.
- The ability to work collaboratively and achieve results, through effective two-way communication and influencing skills.
- Knowledge of the full procurement process
- Effective management of suppliers
- Proficient using analytical tools and techniques.
- Proven literacy and report writing skills with the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel to a high standard.
- Ability for calm and pragmatic decision making and the ability to work with the business and find cost effective solutions with appropriate risk mitigation.
- The post holder will be an excellent team worker with strong communication skills, who demonstrates the ability to work accurately within deadlines, act on their own initiative and be flexible in their approach to learning new skills should opportunities arise to develop the role further.
