Brief Description


To provide technical and commercial support to the post contract commercial team.

Asset Protection provide an essential role supporting the ability of the business to allow works to take place both benefiting the railway (3rd Party) and the wider community (outside party). The team manage the collation of costs (based on various agreements) and prepare invoices for multitude of projects across the region, this requires interfacing with engineering, asset protection (delivery), finance, sponsors and on occasion capital delivery. The team can raise in excess of £1.5m of invoices across 100’s of projects, we also manage the debt collection which is an ongoing challenge with multiple clients such as TOC’s and Local Authorities. Working with this team would provide an insight into the many projects which impact the railway and provide access to different teams within NR.


About the role (External)


Measure works on site to assist in the payment valuation and variation processes. Undertake periodic valuations of works in progress. Prepare certificates for payment as appropriate.

Support the commercial process by research and evaluation of information from contractors.

Assist in preparation of estimates for works. Input cost and quantity information into estimating systems and produce reports.

Assist in preparation of tender, pricing and contract documentation. Carry out cost analysis of accepted tenders.

Prepare budgets and detailed estimates. Cost plan as necessary during development to meet financial targets.

Prepare final accounts, including validation of contractor submission by measurement and quantification.

Input data related to contracts into the company’s project management reporting system.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

• Basic knowledge of the construction / railway industry.

• Numeracy skills.

• Knowledge of railway and construction industry forms of contract.

• Computer literate.

Desirable

• Educated to A Level standard.

• Experience of working within a commercial environment.

• Knowledge of basic estimating, valuation and cost reporting.


Salary: £30,000 to £34,000 range
