We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Project Engineer. At L&P Aerospace, we specialize in creating complex tube and duct assemblies using high-performance materials capable of withstanding extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical interactions. How high are our quality standards, you ask? So much so, that we have products on-board the Space Launch System with NASA, as well as the F-15 and F-35 fighter jets! If you join our team, your work will ensure families across the world fly a little safer, wherever their travels may take them.
As a Project Engineer, you will provide extended expertise in developing, designing and testing a wide range of mechanical products per requirements and specifications. Performs mechanical development and integration assignments. Able to manage and lead tasks with minimal support, whilst, collaborating with multiple business functions to achieve Project Engineering tasks.
Core Responsibilities
- Provides expertise in the design, development, and testing of mechanical components.
- Supports engineering function in coordinating multi-functional engineering related tasks.
- Uses existing procedures to solve a range of problems; analyses information and standard practices to make judgments.
- Solves a variety of mechanical engineering issues and improves existing designs.
- Performs value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs.
- Works with other participants to complete project scope, goals, and deliverables, while adhering to the budget and timing constraints.
- Plans, coordinates, implements, and finalizes projects according to specifications and deadlines, while keeping the project within budget.
Role Specifications
Skills:
- Excellent ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft software including Project.
- Advanced knowledge and ability to apply core concepts of engineering (mechanics, kinematics, materials science, and structural analysis).
- Ability to explain a range of complex technical information.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion to include interfacing with customers and suppliers and presenting at design reviews.
- Ability to adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
- Ability to work independently and interface with cross-functional disciplines; using excellent interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion.
- Self-motivated with problem solving and decision-making skills.
Education
Degree in an engineering/science discipline or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectation.
Additional Detail
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, office based.
