Project Engineer - £50k - £65k plus bonus pension holidays – Oil& Gas / Renewables/ Nuclear / Water / Steel / Biomass / Biogas
Location: South Yorkshire
Develop & execute our larger projects (typically £2M - £10M), this includes feasibility studies, estimates, proposals and for both internal projects and third party sales across all business areas in the UK & Ireland.
Responsible for delivery of approved engineering projects safely, on time and on budget to meet the needs of the business.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Utilise project mangement work process (EPM) in the execution and delivery of projects safely, on budget and on time.
- To be commercially astute in ensuring that project design/costs developed are competitive & fit for purpose to support the business to deliver the required returns/win new 3rd party sales while balancing SHEQ requirements.
- Responsible for identifying and controlling project risk including through ensuring that the appropriate project execution strategies are implemented. This includes variation management to increase sales and limiting/controlling supplier/contractor variations.
- To plan, manage and co-ordinate engineering resource (internal & external) to execute projects.
- To develop Project Proposals to seek financial approval for project budgets.
- To develop an efficient network/capability for utilising contractors/contracting arrangements for sub-contracting work to enable surges in work to be effectively bid/executed.
Required Qualifications / Experience:
- Engineering degree or equivalent in relevant discipline plus minimum 10 years experience in project management/engineering in operating companies or contract engineering organisations.
- NEBOSH Cor IOSHH Certification desirable
- Competent in project and programme management including both contracting and operating company environments, proposals, tendering, sub-contract activity, financial/cost management.
- Experience of developing the commercial arrangements for projects (customer & supplier) and managing variations
- Experience of projects in the nuclear sector would be an advantage
- Experience of improving project execution processes would be valued
- Proven track record of delivering projects on time, cost and to appropriate SHEQ standards
