Project Engineer

We are looking for a Project Engineer to work for our client on a permanent basis for a well-established ventilation and air- conditioning Company, who are based in the Oldham area.

The company are a close- knit team with many long- serving employees in their ranks and they possess a wealth of experience and knowledge that they are happy to share.

This means that they will also consider a Junior Project Engineer, who holds a qualification such as ONC/ HNC in Building Services or a relevant Engineering discipline and candidates who have a genuine interest in the industry, who visually understand ductwork and 2D CAD drawings.

The role responsibilities and salary are wide ranging and varied and will be dependent on the successful applicants’ level of knowledge and experience. Please do not be deterred by some of the role responsibilities as training can be given for any gaps on skillset, which will reflect in the starting salary.

The Package:

• The basic salary for the Junior Project Engineer/ Project Engineer role is between £25,000 – £40,000 per annum.
• 22 days holiday plus bank holidays, incrementally increasing over time.

The Candidate:

To be the right person for the Project Engineer role, previous demonstrable Project Engineering workplace experience in the ventilation, air- conditioning, HVAC and ductwork industries would be highly advantageous, as would AutoCAD 2D experience and knowledge.

A good communicator with confidence in attending site visits and the ability to build rapport with clients and work colleagues is also very beneficial.

A positive attitude to work with a desire to learn, develop and grow within the role and company, the willingness to collaborate new ideas with colleagues and being a team player are all essential traits for to succeed in this role.

You will also need:

Project Engineering:

• A good knowledge of ventilation and ductwork
• To be proficient in the use of MS Office apps including MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and ideally drafting drawings on AutoCAD 2D
• To be willing to travel to sites when required and confident in face to face meetings

Staff Coordination:

• Organise and schedule staff labour on a weekly basis, ensuring optimal resource allocation for project requirements.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in generating take-offs for materials required in ventilation drawings.
• Experience in reading and ideally producing AutoCAD drawings for new ventilation systems.

Sales and Client Interaction:

• Proven experience in sales with the ability to attract new clients- desirable
• Conduct site visits to assess and identify opportunities for new projects.

Technical Expertise:

• Preferable experience in the design of ductwork systems, ventilation plant, air handlers, and proficiency in pressure calculations.

Tendering and Estimation:

• Preferable experience in tendering for ventilation projects, including the ability to produce accurate take-offs.

Qualifications and Skills:

• ONC/ HNC or above in Building Services or an Engineering course with elements of ventilation, HVAC, air- condition and ductwork.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and delegate labour resources effectively.
• Knowledge and experience in ventilation system design and calculations
• Sales experience, with the ability to attract new clients and contribute to business growth.
• Familiarity with tendering processes and accurate estimation of project costs.
• Full UK Driving licence, ideally clean ( preferable)

Most of our clients’ customer sites are FMCG and commercial offices but there may be a requirement to work on government sites and a Basic Disclosure/ DBS may be required.
