Civil/Structural Senior Project Engineer – Power Department
Locations - Manchester, London, Warwick, Motherwell, Derby, York
£40-55k + Car allowance
Description
An ambitious Senior Engineer is required to manage and lead projects within the Power sector as part of this growing department.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working on projects and will be keen to mentor graduate engineers / technicians in both technical design aspects and project management.
A thorough understanding of managing project delivery to quality, cost and programme is essential and experience in the power sector is highly desirable.
Key Objectives
Manage and deliver single- and/or multi-disciplinary projects to cost, schedule and quality criteria
Lead aspects of infrastructure design work on a range of project sizes
Mentor, train and develop engineers, technicians, graduates and apprentices.
Contribute to wider development of the C&S (Power team) department capabilities
Requirements
HNC/ HND Civil Engineering and / or recognised Civil Engineering Degree
Professional membership of an appropriate body (ICE, APM, CIHT, IHE etc.), or actively in the process of achieving this
Experience in managing project delivery
Experienced and competent in leading project teams
Technically competent in Infrastructure design and co-ordination.
Exceptional communication skills both written and oral
Full UK Driving Licence

This person will work on Power projects – for example – a current project underway, is a subsea cable between France and England for example – this team will be responsible for designing the converter station in the UK. Will need to have an overall understanding of how all disciplines pull in together to ensure successful delivery.
Things they may work on (C&S will focus on foundations, building, bunding for equipment, roads, fencing – basically the whole site relating to the Power project) sites such as:
- Transition stations
- Substations buildings
- Power stations
This person will, in addition to overseeing the above-mentioned functions for C&S, will also ensure that the likes of the following is managed accordingly:
- Cost
- Resourcing
- Program management
- Client liaison
- Interdisciplinary coordination
- Quality of output
Occasional site visits may be required, and this could be anywhere in the UK.
Depending on the project and its size – its likely they will be involved with both doing design and leading the project.
