This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.
The Role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As a Project Management Apprentice, you will play a pivotal role in UKAEAs expanding Project Delivery team within the Portfolio Management Office (PfMO) or one of the local PMOs at the Culham site.
The PfMO is made up of:
• The Project Delivery team of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Project Coordinators who take the majority of projects forward for the organisation, as well as providing project planning, costing and process governance.
• The planning team whose responsibilities include creation and updating of project plans, reporting on resource utilisation and forecasting.
You will work closely with Project Managers and Planners to provide co-ordination and support to one or more projects: ensuring procedures are followed, ensuring key project documents are in place and ensuring projects are delivered to budget, schedule and quality standards.
You will work alongside various teams, playing an important role across a range of activities, as well as being encouraged to work independently, whilst always receiving appropriate guidance and mentoring from our experienced managerial and technical staff.
You will learn about UKAEA’s Project Management systems and processes, gaining hands-on experience (for example owning a project plan with inputting of progress and changes), before moving on to projects of greater size and complexity.
In this apprenticeship you will contribute positively to the PPMO “mutual support” environment and support further development of a diverse PPMO team, as well as develop your knowledge and experience through a combination of on-the-job learning and a programme of training and development.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Complete national academic qualification as defined by the apprenticeship training standard Project manager (integrated degree) / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
- Attend designated training provider, develop and attain a good knowledge of engineering skills.
- Represent the UKAEA Organisation and attend external outreach and careers events.
