York Trials Unit (YTU) is one of the UK’s leading centres for the design and analysis of randomised controlled trials. It is a UKCRC-registered trials unit undertaking national and international, scientifically rigorous trials in various areas while having a strong methodological portfolio associated with the conduct and analysis of trials. YTU undertakes trials in various subject areas including surgery, mental health, musculoskeletal disorders, social care, education and public health.
The Unit, led by Director Professor Catherine Hewitt is part of a large and successful multi-disciplinary Department of Health Sciences, renowned for its methodological expertise and commitment to public health, policy-relevant research, health economics and epidemiology.

Role
Due to the continued growth and success of the Unit, we are seeking to appoint a Project Manager. This role will be based within the Data & Solutions team at YTU which provides data management and collection systems as well as developing other applications that enable the Unit to efficiently undertake research.
We are seeking an individual to lead and manage project coordination and delivery with the responsibility for coordinating tasks across a portfolio of projects with varying complexity, timeframes, and resource constraints.
Responsibilities and opportunities
- Coordination of tasks across a portfolio of projects with varying constraints.
- Collaborate with external trial teams to provide data management solutions.
- Work with the in-house development team on creating bespoke applications.
- Liaise with the trial management team for relevant information and status updates.
- The role offers scope for initiative and innovation.
- Access to cutting-edge technologies.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- Demonstrable experience in managing projects from start to finish.
- Experience supporting multiple objectives and managing competing priorities.
- Skilled at building effective relationships.
- Experience using project management software.
- Taking ownership of the delivery of distinct pieces of work.
- Work collaboratively and efficiently in verbal and written formats with others.
