Job description

Contract: 2-year fixed-term Contract (with the possibility of extension for an additional two years)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week 

An exciting opportunity has opened up in North London for a skilled, dedicated, and passionate Project Manager to spearhead a violence reduction program. The program adopts a public health approach to reducing serious youth violence and improving life chances for children, young people, families, and communities. 

Wipers Youth has partnered with three reputable community organizations that have a track record of reducing violence and leading initiatives in the London Borough of Islington. Together, we have secured substantial investment from the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) to deliver the My Ends programme, which aims to unite individuals, families and organisation to bring about significant change in their community.

This project will focus on the Finsbury Park area of Islington and seeks to tackle the root causes of violence impacting young people, provide them with positive opportunities, and deliver customised interventions that respond to the voices of young people and community members. The Project Manager will serve as the connection between the consortium partners and provide a crucial link with funders, statutory and voluntary organizations, and the community.

As our Project Manager, you will bring a wealth of experience and strategic insight to our team. You should have a degree or equivalent experience, with a solid background in managing projects and a proven track record in brokering multi-agency partnerships and supporting partners with project deliverables. Proficient in data analysis, you excel at monitoring and evaluating the progress of interventions and driving continuous improvement. Your excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills enable you to engage partners and stakeholders, and your creative thinking allows you to identify and leverage the skills, expertise and assets of existing local institutions and stakeholders. Ambitious, self-motivated, and compassionate, you are deeply committed to Wipers’ mission and values of fairness, discovery, and integrity. You are conscientious, dependable, and continuously seek to learn and improve. Your adaptability efficiency, and leadership will be key in developing and overseeing the objectives of the project for maximum success. You are reliable and genuine in maintaining an environment of trust and collaboration so that statutory service providers, and other stakeholders engage positively with Wipers and the consortium.

Your key responsibilities are to: 

  • liaise with funders,
  • conduct observations and quality assurance checks, feeding back to project workers and delivery partners on areas for improvement,
  • support project Delivery Plans and update periodically a Quality Improvement Plan
  • ensure that accurate monitoring data and returns are produced to meet internal and external standards and deadlines,
  • schedule consortium partnership meetings and steering group forums, prepare agendas and
  • disseminate minutes, represent Wipers Youth and the consortium at relevant meetings,
  • implement and action a referral management process across the partnership for both internal and external referrals that support and assist young people on their journey,
  • lead and support where necessary on elements of direct service delivery, including coordination of programmes and local youth and community forums,
  • work to actively promote the consortium and Wipers Youth’s activities, as per the organisational guidelines, through producing publicity materials and written reports for regular newsletters and by keeping the website updated,
  • ensure that safeguarding is central to the service delivery and is systemically built into case management processes,
  • ensure equality of opportunity is embedded in all service delivery by Wipers Youth and
  • consortium partners,
  • provide secretarial services for the project steering group, progress meetings and small grant awarding panel

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prior to employment.
