Katherine Low Settlement, serving Battersea and wider Wandsworth since 1924, is committed to fostering stronger communities and aiding individuals in overcoming poverty and isolation. Our community projects empower children, young people, families, older individuals, women, and refugee communities. We advocate for social change and support local charities and social businesses. With 28+ charities and over 1,000 people reached weekly, we strive to meet diverse community needs.
Katherine Low Settlement’s Work with Older People:
With a history dating back to 1924, our work with older people remains integral to our mission. We offer various projects and activities, including health and wellbeing initiatives, creative arts programs, intergenerational projects, and social outings. Our services, such as the Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, and online support, aim to encourage active living, combat isolation, enhance wellbeing, and foster dynamic community involvement.
Key Objectives for this Role:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Older People's Core Service within the Elders Programme, including club sessions, transport, and social activities.
- Collaborate with the team to deliver a hands-on program that amplifies older people's strengths.
- Lead and support a team of core staff and volunteers.
- Monitor and evaluate the project's effectiveness and budget with the Head of Programme.
- Engage older people, KLS team, partners, and funders in planning the service.
- Assist in recruiting and supporting new and existing members alongside staff and volunteer colleagues.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Delivery:
- Ensure service output aligns with KLS' vision, mission, values, and strategy.
- Facilitate smooth delivery of core activities and plan one-off events.
- Manage transport logistics, maintain accurate records, and address safeguarding concerns.
- Conduct outreach, support work, and oversee case management.
- Provide one-to-one and group support for older people.
Staff and Volunteer Management:
- Oversee recruitment, line management, and performance evaluation of core service staff and volunteers.
- Utilize performance management and quality systems for evaluation.
Relationships, Communications, and Networks:
- Build and sustain strong relationships with members.
- Manage communications for the core service, including newsletters and social media.
- Represent the core service at meetings as required.
Finance:
- Manage project budgets and maintain financial records.
Other Duties:
- Participate in regular management supervision and annual appraisals.
- Uphold professional standards consistent with KLS' ethos.
