Job Introduction

The Intelligent Infrastructure Civils Portfolio uses technology to centralise and collate our data. Civils’ apps help asset management and maintenance teams make more informed decisions about how and when assets are managed, for a safer and more reliable railway. Our game changing apps cover all civils' disciplines including, drainage, earthworks, geotechnical, operational property, plus structures and tunnels. You name it, we’ve got an app for it!

We are looking for an individual with great project management knowledge, including agile methodologies, to join our dynamic Civils team. Digital transformation and IT experience would be essential as well as someone who can deliver to tight deadlines, work well in a team and diligent in meeting the needs of our stakeholders. Strong expertise with RAID Management, Finance Management, Microsoft Project Plans would be required. Main Responsibilities

To lead the safe delivery of projects to achieve cost, time and quality objectives within corporate guidelines and to develop appropriate delivery and supply strategies and plans for specific projects.

  • Provide a professional, consistent and effective project management service in accordance with Network Rail and Intelligent Infrastructure governance processes and standards.
  • Oversee work within a small team (up to 10) to create project delivery assurance.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager to proactively resolve potential conflicts (for example; return on investment associated with the benefits case or conflicts relating to technical compliance).
  • Build and maintain relationships with business representatives and those with a vested interest in the projects delivery to act as their point of contact and ensure expectations are managed.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager in the process of project prioritisation, approval and initiation.
  • Encourage efficiencies and effectiveness from the supplier contract, taking appropriate action to resolve issues and escalate as appropriate.
  • Support the Senior Project Manager to engage with Strategic Sourcing partners to achieve contractual obligations whilst protecting Network Rail against supplier failure.
  • Oversee the project finances
  • Regularly update all those involved or who have a vested interest in project delivery with project progress communications and reports.
The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of leading on projects up to a value of £1m.
  • Leadership of a project team (up to 10 team members).
  • Experience in the creation and tracking of accurate project plans using tools such as Primavera or Microsoft Project.
  • Sound understanding, knowledge and experience of project plan baselining and managing critical paths
  • Knowledge and experience of applying one or more delivery lifecycles e.g. waterfall, RAD, JAD, DSDM, Agile.
  • Experience of project financial management.
  • Ability to drive value from Suppliers.

Desirable

  • Experience in overseeing the delivery of IT solutions via third party suppliers and some familiarity with the contractual elements of supplier relationships.
  • A formal Project Management qualification (e.g. APMP, PRINCE2, PMIP, Managing Successful Programmes).

Package Description
