Project Manager – Community, Carbon & Energy Efficiency
Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager, with a passion for working with communities and Energy Efficiency, to join our team.
They will manage a new Shropshire community project (funded until March 2025) working with groups to support practical responses to climate change, particularly home Energy Efficiency. To work with MEA to develop our community work for the continuation of this project, or similar projects, in the area.
Person specification
- Experienced Project Manager
- Knowledgeable and passionate about tackling climate change and improving Energy Efficiency, particularly in the home. Ability to draw on the expertise of others and willingness to learn more.
- Good knowledge of Shropshire communities and networks, with the ability to quickly build trusted and productive working relationships, particularly with volunteers.
- Excellent communicator, with the ability to deliver develop and deliver presentations and facilitate training.
- Skilled at building and maintaining partnerships with external stakeholders.
- Ability to quickly build a positive team dynamic. Experience line managing staff would be an advantage.
- Commitment to develop work in this area. Experience of development and bid writing an advantage.
- High degree of initiative and ability to work independently.
- Be competent in the use of online phone and IT systems, cloud-based databases, etc
- Full driving licence, use of EV (based in Shrewsbury) or own transport, ability to travel throughout area, including on evenings and weekends as needed
- Show a clear alignment with our values and vision.
- Hold a degree or equivalent level qualification/ experience. Additional sector specific qualifications an advantage.
Job Description
- Take overall responsibility for the project or similar projects. This includes:
- personnel and resource planning and management,
- preparation of contracts and agreements,
- liaison with project partners and contractors,
- ensuring the quality and timeliness of the deliverables,
- delegation of specific tasks where necessary and managing budgets.
- Create and maintain excellent, professional relationships with community groups, volunteers, funders, project partners and staff.
- Coordinate all work carried out on the project and allocate all work to appropriate members of staff (including self) to execute.
- With other managers, contribute to the devising and development of new projects to ensure that MEA maintains a pipeline of future work. In addition, you may develop funded work from initial ideas to funded projects.
- Provide informed and knowledgeable domestic Energy Efficiency advice, particularly to groups in the form of presentations and training. In addition, you may gain and apply specialist qualifications and expertise.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of related Government policy, funding opportunities and offers of other relevant organisations and signpost or refer householders as appropriate.
- Comply with financial and administrative procedures as required by MEA.
- Undertake any other duties as necessary to meet the needs of MEA.
- Provide a consistent and high-quality service to the customers and stakeholders of MEA.
Although support may be provided, MEA staff are expected to carry out much of their own administrative/IT work, including internet research, development of training and presentation materials, timesheets and expenses records.
Salary: £28,989 - £30,773 FTE
Location: Hybrid / Shrewsbury office, with travel in Shropshire.
Duration: until 31.03.25 with opportunity to extend, subject to funding
Hours of work: 21.75 – 36.25 hours per week.. Part-time staff must spread their hours over not less than 4 days a week. Flexible working considered, successful applicant must be prepared to work evenings and weekends as required.
