ROLE PURPOSE
The Project Manager (Examinations & Access Manager) role will be to manage the day to day running of activities from The Arch Company perspective arising from Network Rail (NR) Examinations and works programmes. They will help to develop strategies, processes, and controls in regard to NRs rights under the portfolio lease, to develop joint processes and protocols with NR where applicable and to drive the reporting and collection of examination and Access requests and data across the business.
They will be primary point of contact for operational planning, requests or issues, within The Arch Company, that arise from NR examinations or works requiring NR access to our estate. A large part of the role will be to advise business units on Examinations and Access requests and to actively minimise the impact of those requests on the estate. The role will also involve developing positive working relationships with NR’s internal teams as well as third party service providers, such as Aecom or works contractors.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Developing and managing programmes alongside Network Rail (NR) and third-party contractors to support the delivery of arch Examinations and other works programmes. Being responsible for the delivery of the related The Arch Company programmes.
- Working with the delivery team for Examinations, being responsible for and acting as the main point of contact for programme management and issue resolution, within the allocated region.
- To manage The Arch Company activities in relation to NR project access vacancy windows/temporary access requests, lease backs and buy backs, examinations & inspections access.
- To manage and develop the NR visual inspections and elevations inspections processes for the business and NR (when required).
- To develop and manage effective internal and external stakeholder relationships and develop effective communication plans to help mitigate risk throughout the organisation related to NR's arch examination or works programmes.
- Control project change, risks and contingency within the project life cycle and provide all cost, contingency and programme details for the respective reporting functions.
- Maintaining accurate and complete records and data and contributing to reporting activities.
- Developing and manage systems to record the associated notices attributable to access requests.
- To support any projects as directed by the Head of Examinations & Access including the Arch Examinations Technology Project.
- Support business transformation programmes and performance improvement initiatives across the portfolio and function.
- Identify and implement improvement initiatives. Follow company procedures to manage appropriate resources, communication strategies, training and competency
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- A track record working on projects within large scale and complex programmes with an element of business change
- Experience in project management and delivery
- Experience in managing customer expectations, stakeholders and developing strong relationships across businesses
- Knowledge of project management principles, methods, techniques and tools
- Strong leadership skills, motivating and inspiring confidence in others
- High levels of flexibility, adaptability and broad thinking
Desirable
- Knowledge of/experience in the UK rail industry and Commercial Property.
- Experience of system & process control and document control Formal Programme/Project Management qualifications (e.g. APM/P – Certified Project Manager, Managing Successful Programmes, and Prince 2.
