Salary: £47,514 - £55,914 per annum

The BFI is seeking an experienced Project Manager to facilitate and manage the successful and effective delivery of the BFI National Archive ‘Our Screen Heritage’ lottery-funded programme.

A multi-disciplinary senior Project Manager role working closely with the Heritage Programmes Manager. Responsible to plan and deliver, to successful closure, the new BFI National Archive Lottery Programme, in accordance to lottery governance and aligned to the BFI Screen Culture 2033.

This role will be essential to our new 2-year lottery funded programme, Our Screen Heritage.
Our Screen Heritage will focus on collecting contemporary born-digital moving-image work and has an extensive outreach and engagement programme of activity to engage the public (UK-wide) in the BFI National Archive.  It is the third chapter of Our Screen Heritage story, bringing the BFI national collections up to date – to preserve the story of moving-image as it moved into the digital/online era.

Fixed Term Contract: until 31 March 2026

Key responsibilities
  • Be a main point of contact for Our Screen Heritage – proactively maintaining relationships (internal and external) and act as a liaison with all other BFI departments and staff
  • Project manage the Our Screen Heritage programme and multiple strands within; ensuring deliverables and outputs are aligned with Programme objectives and governance; and all tracking and reporting follows lottery guidance.
  • Accountable for management of project plans and reporting, identifying and sequencing resources, logistics, data and activities to successfully deliver the project. Ensuring all project stakeholders are informed of progress and key reporting lines are regularly maintained.
  • Work collaboratively with programme team, project Leads, key stakeholders (internal and external) and managers across the BFI National Archive (and BFI departments) to ensure effective joined-up delivery of all Our Screen Heritage programme deliverables, outcomes and legacy.
  • Lead on the management of all project-related contracts and supplier relationships.
We are looking for candidates who have:
  • 4 years direct work experience in a project management capacity
  • Experience of working in a cultural, digital or heritage organisation; or demonstrable interest in Screen Heritage
  • Proven experience of managing £1m plus programmes on time and to budget – experience on lottery programmes advantageous; including financial management, budgeting and reporting systems within the public sector
  • Demonstrable experience in successful delivery of complex multi-stranded projects particular experience/knowledge in outreach and engagement programmes
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines and targets whilst working in a busy environment.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams delivering complex programmes with multiple outputs and outcomes
