Job description

Summary We’re seeking a part-time Project Manager to drive forward the aims of the UK Rainforest Network over the next 2 years, ensuring the long-term protection of Britain’s most incredible, rare and threatened temperate rainforest habitats.
This exciting new role will play a vital part in supporting core UK Rainforest Network NGO’s and Alliances across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to increase collective impact, advocacy and effectiveness towards temperate rainforest conservation.
This role sits within the National Trust’s central Whole Trust Consultancy and you will be officially based at our UK headquarters at Heelis in Wiltshire. However, there will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the project. The role will also involve occasional travel to sites to meet with key UK Rainforest Network stakeholders.

Reporting to National Trust’s National Specialist - Trees & Woodland Adviser, you will be working closely with our UK Rainforest Network partners to:
•Develop and lead an innovative and joined-up partnership project for the wider UK Rainforest Network to follow and benefit from
•Co-ordinate regular UK Rainforest Network meetings, providing support with governance, agendas and reporting
•Organise a review of current UK Rainforest management guidance across the partnership, bringing greater consistency and clarity to best practice guides and resources
•Support co-ordination, fundraising and research activity with priority temperate rainforest Alliances across different countries and regions, helping them grow the capacity and impact of their work
This is a part-time, fixed term role ending after 24 months, 15 hours per week. What you'll be doing The postholder will: •Provide high-quality project support to the UK Rainforest Network, enabling partners to share information, expertise and ideas so they can carry out Rainforest restoration more effectively •Develop and manage seasonal delivery plans to support specific priorities across the UK Rainforest Network portfolio; set timely and achievable objectives and communicate them clearly to a network of key stakeholders •Manage, organise, review and share key information and statistics to inform wider decision-making •Help protect and add value to our charitable funds by accessing efficiencies in how we work across multiple organisations and Alliances, helping to link external funding opportunities to suitable rainforest conservation workstreams •Nurture effective working relationships with key stakeholders •Be an excellent team player when working alongside UK Rainforest Network and National Trust colleagues, sharing knowledge and information to create great working relationships
Who we're looking for It’s a big challenge, and to be successful in this role you’ll need to have the right attitude, skills and experience.  We are looking for someone with:
•a genuine passion for woodland management and temperate rainforest conservation •solid project management skills, able to make decisions and drive projects forward working to budgets and timescales. Good understanding of project management life-cycles, processes and practices, including governance requirements •management and communication skills including the ability to manage and motivate project teams •experience of funding, procuring, contracting and financial processes. Ability to manage budgets and control costs •experience of working with external agencies, contractors and organisations •written and verbal communication skills •ability to work as part of a team sharing ideas and learning
