Job description

Location: Hybrid variable (two days based at either London or Bristol office and home-based). Further travel within the UK may be required.

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.

At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help children and young people (0-25) and their families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. Join us and your skills will make a real difference to the lives of young cancer patients.

About the role

As a Business Development Fundraiser, your main remit will be to identify, develop relationships with and secure amazing new national corporate partnerships for Young Lives vs Cancer. You will maximise the income potential from all new partners, and ensure your financial targets are achieved within an acceptable cost to income ratio in accordance with the vision, mission and values of the organisation.

You will be a key member of the Philanthropy and Partnerships team and will visibly demonstrate your effectiveness and make a major contribution to the development and realisation of the team’s strategy. This role will require a hands on approach as well as using exceptional verbal and written communication to engage supporters and prospects.

The post holder will report into the Partnerships Development Lead with regular travel to meetings and service visits around the UK. The post holder may be required to, from time to time, work outside normal office hours.

Young Lives vs Cancer is open to and in support of flexible working. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at interview stage with you.

This role is part home, part office based. You will have the opportunity to work from home within the parameters of our hybrid working arrangements, with 2 days a week in the Bristol/London office.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Confidence/experience of selling a cause, product or service over a period of time, with the ability to get on the phone and engage potential corporate partners

  • Ability to spot opportunities and make links between a company and a charity to create really special propositions

  • Experience in working collaboratively across multiple teams to develop new funding bids, proposals and pitches
