The Department of Learning and Leadership (DLL) is a large specialist research and teaching department of approximately 110 academic staff. The department is a major world leader in the following subject areas: Early Years and Primary Education, Educational Leadership, Education Policy, and Initial Teacher Education (ITE). About the role The successful candidate will lead our International and UK Consultancy programmes. You will be one of two Programme Directors in the Centre for Educational Leadership. Programme Directors are senior leaders with responsibility for the strategic leadership of a portfolio of large-scale, high-value, professional development programmes of national and international importance. The role includes the development of strategy; being accountable for finance,recruitment and quality targets; building and sustaining relationships at the most senior levels, leading and motivating large teams, overseeing the development of systems and processes and ensuring continuous quality improvement across our international delivery network. The role will require an in-depth understanding of education policy priorities within England and Internationally. The role directly manages a team of Programme Leaders and is also responsible for the matrix management of larger project teams made up of existing and associate staff. The role includes significant international and national travel. About you You will have demonstrable experience of a successful career in a senior educational leadership position leading a large department or a significant part of an education organisation as well as experience of leading the design and delivery of professional learning at considerable scale and/or national importance working with delivery partners and for government clients. You will also have demonstrable expert knowledge of current national/international education policy and practices with proven ability to contribute to the development of future policy and excellent presentation and influencing skills Your application form should address all the person specification points and should clearly demonstrate how your skills and experience meet each of the criteria.
