We are a growing multi-discipline practice with 6 offices across the South of England, celebrating our 50th birthday this year. Due to our continued success we are looking to appoint Project Managers to assist with a range of interesting and exciting projects on behalf of both public and private sector clients across a range of sectors.
In particular, we have secured the renewal of a long term framework agreement with the Ministry of Justice, supporting their drive to transform the Justice system in England and Wales across Youth and Adult custodial and courts estates along with provision of project delivery services to other Departments including the Home Office and UK Border Force.
The Role
An experienced Project Manager, ideally Chartered with experience of Custodial, Defence or Education Sector projects. The role will require the ability and confidence to lead projects from inception through feasibility study to tendering, on site and handover then post-completion phases. Working independently but with support from a junior PROJECT MANAGER on larger projects as required and overall guidance from the PM team Leader and office Partners (also PMs).
We are appointed on a number of Project Management frameworks for Universities and local authorities but a significant part of this role will be providing services under our Delivery Partner appointment with Ministry of Justice. This is a client side project leader role and will include monitoring a number of projects. Duties will include preparing the project brief and appointment documents in liaison with key stakeholder groups, monitoring fees for consultants, managing project risks, preparing and updating project programmes and reports to senior management as well as compiling and presenting Business Cases to Boards. The Government Soft Landings approach to Handover is implemented along with BREEAM assessments on all Government funded schemes.
Typical projects are from £1M to £10M but we are also involved in delivering programmes of capital works under the client side role mentioned above with individual project values up to £130M.
Training can be provided in MS Project and the client-specific consultant appointments and reporting mechanisms required but it is expected that the successful candidate will have an understanding of detailed project programming, managing external consultants and project reporting to senior client directors. Experience of client side working will be beneficial.
NOTE: The selected candidate will be required to undergo DBS and Enhanced Security checks and meet the criteria set by our Government and Education Sector clients with regard to previous criminal convictions.
