Job description

Project Support Officer (PSO) - Outside IR35 - 6 month initial contract
Our leading public sector client is looking or a highly experienced Project Support Officer who works well in a fast paced environment.


Work involves progress tracking/reporting, assurance/quality control, financial tracking, information management, risk/issue tracking, change control, acting as a source for guidance, standards and documentation. The role also involves administrative support across the Criminal/Corporate Labs, including arranging and minuting meetings where required.
The post holder will work alongside the Criminal/Corporate Lab Leads, Project Managers, Product Owners and the wider Lab teams
Working as part of a highly motivated and engaged change lab, you will be a team player, but able to work autonomously and use your own initiative. Well-developed communication skills and a positive outlook are essential to success in this interesting and varied role, as are excellent organisational skills.


Project Support

  • Collating input and drafting progress tracking and reporting, ensuring quality of reporting
  • Facilitate the preparation and maintenance of the collateral for each work stream as they move through the LOAD Framework
  • Collate, ready for presentation all of the necessary collateral needed for preparing the Gateway assessments within your Lab
  • Provide support to Lab Leads to prepare pack and ensure action are progressed
  • Maintain Lab RAID log and escalate actions. Supporting effective risk and issue tracking, facilitating workshops, maintaining tracking
  • Maintenance of Finance Workbook. Financial and commercial administration and authorisation within delegated levels of authority, including drafting annual budget
  • Manage the Resource demand and utilisation of the Lab
  • Facilitate weekly / daily stand-ups and ad hoc meetings where required.
  • Actively participate in all " Community of Practice" meetings and events (PMO)
  • Understand Value and measurement of Value
  • Understand JIRA & confluence, having the ability to offer support to LAB team members and the capability of generating reports as required.
  • Understand the relevant change LAB data, explore and innovate ways of presentation to communicate with impact
  • To support the lab in compliance with relevant CDi and SCTS policies and procedures e.g. corporate project control framework, acting as a source for guidance, standards and documentation, drafting and submitting forms and required documentation. Maintaining up to date Criminal Lab records for example lab resourcing and communications events/plans
  • Arranging and facilitating the full range of project events, e.g. external audits and stakeholder events
  • Where required, arranging meetings, drafting, collating and issuing papers and agendas, provide a minute taking role

This role contributes to:

  • Capability of understanding the translation of Operational Strategic objectives into targeted value outcomes, themes and epics


Essential skills and experience:

  • Experience managing project level financial reporting, organising events e.g. audit or whole lab delivery events
  • Good experience in embedding governance within team
  • Good People and communication skills
  • Ability to improvise and adapt
  • Work to deadline and mange workload to prioritise
  • Act as the "go to" person within Labs for LOAD, Gateway and RAID questions and guidance
  • Explain his/her area of expertise clearly to others
  • Not only answer why things are done, but how
  • Confident report builder using available report building tools


Desirable skills and experience:

  • Worked in Agile delivery environments previously
  • Understand the language/terms/jargon in their assigned LAB
  • Experience of Azure Dev Opps and or previous experience using JIRA and confluence
