Stop scrolling! You've found it - the best opportunity for you as a Psychology Graduate looking for the best start to your Psychology career.
Application closing date: 20th October 2023
What's the Psychology Graduate Academy? It's only an amazing opportunity to develop core skills and experience in mental health care with ultimate preparation for next steps into either psychology or nursing careers.
While on the 1-year Academy you'll be working as a Psychology Support Assistant (PSA), which is a split between working in a hospital psychology department, a psychology-focused academic learning programme AND practical nursing care on the wards.
Think of it as a three-in-one. You're a Psychology Assistant and a Healthcare Assistant, with added academic learning that you won't get anywhere else.
You'll work one day a week in a Psychology department covering on-site psychology work and off-site academic learning. Then, after induction and training in the hospital, you will work alongside qualified mental health Nurses and Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) for the remaining three/four days (30 hours) depending on the nursing shift.
During nursing shifts as a Psychology Support Assistant, you will be assisting in service users' management of care, rehabilitation, and recovery activities on the ward in the capacity of a Healthcare Assistant.
Once you have successfully completed the 1-year academic programme, you will continue your career development in the hospital departments and will have access to various Elysium career opportunities while you continue to build your experience in the psychology and nursing departments.
All necessary and required training and support will be provided.
